Jacob Hilgendorf confessed to murdering Curtis Bailey willfully, deliberately and with premeditation. He also stated that his friend Jessica Dayton, and his mom Denise Frei played active roles in the murder. According to the warrant, Hilgendorf and Bailey got into a "struggle", the victim left bite-marks on Hilgendorfs thigh. This "struggle" got out of control, and subsequently led to the slaying of Curtis Bailey.
Hilgendorf and Dayton took multiple items of evidence and fled the scene in Hilgendorf's black, 1994 Ford Explorer. They arrived at Denise Templeton's house in North Amana and parked in the garage.
